Immunopathological study of periodontal disease VI. Localization and function of T-cell in inflamed human gingiva
نویسندگان
چکیده
Abstract : The localization and function of T-cells in the inflamed human gingivae were revealed by immunopathological studies. 21 of 40 gingival specimens showed flourescence positive by staining with FITC-labeled rabbit antiserum to human thymocytes. T-cells were mainly detected in the subepithelial connective tissue and partially in the deep layer of the gingiva as a cluster or scatter pattern. Morphological observation indicated that these T-cells were produced by blastoid transformation and beared formation of the local immune system in the periodontal tissue. It was concluded that the function of T-cells in the gingival tissue could be classified into three categories as follows: (1) help the formation of local B-cell immunity or T-cell immunity (2) tissue injuries by ADCC or cytotoxic factors (3) tissue defensive reaction by stimulation of mesenchymal cells

A Concept Suggestion on the Effect of Cigarette Smoking in Inflammatory Destruction of Gingiva
Dear Editor, Cigarette smoking has destructive effect on periodontal tissue. The rates of loss of periodontal attachment and recession of gingival are higher in smokers than non-smokers (1-2). Previous studies on the inflammatory immune responses in smokers’ periodontitis have mainly focused on the role of neutrophils. Tumor necrosis factor–α, prostaglandin E2 and matrix metalloproteinase...

processes of periodontal disease. Long term sensitization with oral microflora may cause tissue destruction by an intricate mechanism. In this report, the chronic sensitization with human oral bacteria in guinea pigs was analyzed and the antibody to oral bacteria was assayed. The presense of antibody to oral bacteria or to the patient's own gingiva extract in sera of subjects with periodontal d...

Background and Aims: Removable partial denture (RPDs) is a common therapy for rehabilitation of partialy edentulous patients while RPD causes a lot of periodontal problems. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of RPDs made in Babol dental school on the periodontal health of abutment and non-abutment teeth. متن کاملInterrelationship of Smoking, Lip and Gingival Melanin Pigmentation, and Periodontal Status
Background: Cigarette smoking is a significant risk factor for periodontal disease. It also causes pigmentation of oral mucosa. The present study was aimed to assess the effects of smoking on lip and gingival pigmentation and periodontal status and the relationship between pigmentation and periodontal parameters. Methods: A total of 109 smokers and an equal number of non-smoker controls (mean a...

The purpose of this study was to qualitatively compare three recent techniques of Langerhans cells detection in oral epithelium and to quantitatively compare Langerhans cells in clinically normal and clinically inflamed human gingival biopsies. Eleven subjects were selected who displayed chronic periodontitis and moderate gingival inflammation. A quadrant associated with clinically inflamed tis...
